As a tropical country, like other Southeast Asian countries, Vietnam  possesses two typical seasons: the dry and rainy season. For tourism, traveling in the dry season should be better to enjoy the sunny sky, warm blue seas and exotic landscapes.

Vietnam is divided into three regions with different climate and natural beauty. The North in which you can visit Hanoi, Dien Bien, Mochau or Halong Bay experiences the most rainfall between June and September. Meanwhile, Central Vietnam like Danang, Hoian and Hue, rainfall happens during the winter months including October and November. Like the North, the South Vietnam if you choose Ho Chi Minh City or Vung Tau, it is on their highest rainfall in June, July, August and September. So if you want to spend your holiday in Vietnam in the most amazing weather to explore all sports and activities, avoid these months.

Right on the center of Hanoi, Hoan Kiem Lake or ‘Lake of the Returned Sword’ attracts visitors and locals looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of this modern city. Peaceful and quiet, and green water, the lake surrounded by plenty of trees and shaded spots make visitors more comfortable and relaxing.

The Old Quarter

The most noticeable evidence of over-100-year-of-French-colony influence is The Old Quarter where one of Hanoi’s most common sights is that of streets packed with bicycles or scooters and cars swarming around pedestrians like a school of fish.

The Temple of Literature

A unique cuisine that attracts both Hanoi foodie and many travelers is street food Hanoi. This is a city that takes the phrase “street food” seriously – food is literally everywhere. You need an expert or simply a Hanoi foodie lead the way to the best food stands or local restaurants in Hanoi Old Quarter (near Hoan Kiem lake). The variety of cuisines from local dish, street food to high-end restaurant made Hanoi one of the world best destination for hungry travelers. Also by tasting Hanoi cuisine, visitors can learn more about Vietnam culture, history as well as observing the local life in this thousand years old town. But do not worry about the prices as street food is cheap eats Hanoi.

What to eat? Do not worry, as when traveling to Hanoi, you are “lost” in the food heaven: Pho, Pho Bo, Cha Ca, Xoi, Che, Bun Cha, Banh Cuon and many other.

I do hope that these above are useful tips for those coming to Hanoi, especially for the first time.

Amazingly, there is no better way to witness Halong bay wonderful limestone karsts and caves from the Seaplane. I am sure that it will certainly be much more spectacular and appealing as there are many karsts as well as islands rising in the bay than sitting on cruises. And all famous islands and landscapes of Halong bay such as Dau Go Cave (Hang Đầu Gỗ), Tuan Chau Island (Đảo Tuần Châu), and almost amazing Halong bay beaches will be on the eye.

White rose is actually not a flower. It is a type of shrimp dumpling made from translucent white dough bunched up to look like a rose. Shrimp and pork or other ingredients are placed on top the carefully folded noodles and topped with crispy shallot. Hot chilies, lemon together with sugar are mixed to create a special dipping sauce.

Quang Noodle – Mi Quang
