Duong Dong Market is a big MUST GO destination for those traveling to Phu Quoc since this is the largest market of all the islands here. Located alongside Tran Phu Street, Duong Dong Market is purposely close to Duong Dong Port for a reason: this is where you can see fish boats after fish boats queue up to drop off their freshest catch of every seafood you can ever imagine, from shellfish, mackerel, eel, squid to barracuda. The fishermen will sell them to local vendors or interested customers, but mostly local vendors.
In Phu Quoc specifically and Vietnam generally, some markets only last for one or two days per month, but Duong Dong is a permanent fixture. Pepper: Phu Quoc is one of Vietnam’s best places to grow pepper trees thanks to its favorable soil and climate conditions. The pepper here is spicier, hotter and providing a much stronger taste than the normal pepper grown elsewhere. There are three kinds of pepper sold in the Dong Duong market, namely black pepper, red pepper, and the white one. However, since they also sell the freshly-picked pepper, you can give it a try, too!

Rose myrtle fruit candy: Rose myrtle fruits (Sim in Vietnamese) is the combination of cherries and black currants. The fruit is so delicious, juicy and nutritious that Phu Quoc people make them into wine, tea, juice, and jam and many other products.
