good campaign that reflects Vietnam’s tourism potential
VIETNAM is planning to launch a new tourism campaign for 2011 and 2015 to replace the current Vietnam: The Hidden Charm.
According to a Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) official, a contest for the new campaign will be opened to the public in and beyond Vietnam next month.
Hanoi-based Luxury Travel CEO Pham Ha concurred with VNAT’s plan to launch a new campaign. “We should have one good campaign that reflects Vietnam’s tourism potential as there are now many slogans, such as The Hidden Charm and Impressive Vietnam,” he said.
Vietnam’s foreign tourism earnings has increased from US$5.45 billion in 2008 to an estimated US$5.8 billion last year, according to VNAT deputy director for tourism development research Pham Trung Luong.
However, visitor numbers dropped by 10.9 per cent to 3.7 million tourists when compared to 4.25 million arrivals in 2008.
VNAT expected the country to welcome about four million tourist arrivals this year, Pham said.
