Phong Nha Ke Bang National Park 2 Days/1 night
Tripcode: PKBNP2

  • Private pick-up & drop-off services
  • Private tour with English or French speaking guide
  • Daily departure from Hue City or Danang City

Quang Binh province has been blessed by Mother Nature with forests, seas, rivers and a stunning coastline. History has been less kind, but this battle-hardened province and longimpoverished land is now making the most of its natural assets and emerging as one of Vietnam's most talked about up-and-coming tourist destinations.

We offer two day tours from Hue or Danang, and you can opt for a unique homestay in Chay Lap orthe Sun Spa Resort.

Discovered in 1935, but having only opened to tourists in 1999, Phong Nha Cave was made a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2003. Compared to the citadel of Hue, the ancient town of Hoi An and My Son Sanctuary, Phong Nha has remained largely off the beaten track at least for international tourists.

Phong Nha Ke Bang National Park 2 Days/1 night

Day 01 : Hue - Quang Binh (L/D)

At 8:00 a.m., our tourguide and driver will pick you up from the hotel in Hue for an excursion to Quang Binh, approximately 200 kilometers away. On the way, you will have a chance to visit the DMZ (Demilitarized Zone), Ben Hai River and Hien Luong Bridge, important sights that marked violent battles which took place in Quang Tri Province during the American War. After that, you will enjoy lunch at a local restaurant in Dong Hoi.

In the afternoon, you will take a boat on the Son River to visit Phong Nha ("Wet Cave") and Tien Son ("Dry Cave"). After that, you will drive to rustic Chay Lap, for dinner and an overnight stay at a traditional wooden house (shared rooms and a maximum group of 14 per stay). Or, you can stay at the five star Sun Spa Resort Quang Binh.

Day 02 : Kayaking On the Chay River And Paradise Cave back to Hue (B/L)

This morning you will warm up by kayaking on the Chay River, as you have the chance to admire the birds, butterflies and dragonflies on the way to the meeting point and a chance to refresh yourself at a delightful swimming area.

After you finish kayaking on the Chay River, our car will pick you up at the meeting point and transfer you to Thien Duong ("Paradise Cave"). Paradise Cave was discovered by scientists of the British Caving Research Association in 2005 and has a length of 31km, making it the longest dry cave in Asia. With naturally primitive features, Thien Duong Cave looks like a landscape painting, making it very attractive to visitors. You will then go back to Quang Binh and have lunch en route, before transferring back to Hue and the end of services.

In part this has been due to its comparative inaccessibility, however, the opening of regular air service from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to the city of Dong Hoi, some 40km from the caves in September 2008 has changed all that. Now the caves are a 45-minute flight away from the Vietnamese capital and 1.5 hours from the southern hub, and you can access Phong Nha from Hue city or Danang by car. Like Halong Bay's rocks, the caves date back to the Paleozoic period, some 400 million years ago. The main difference lies in the vast scale of the cave. The whole complex is some 65km long stretching towards the Lao border. To explore the cave and underground river system more effectively, we have launched a special tour to explore further into the mysterious cave. Besides visiting the cave by power boat as usual, you can kayak down the underground river to access both the well-known and unexplored caves. Do not expect much luxury, but rather nature and sense of connection with the area's history and people. On this two day tour you will explore Son Dong and Paradise Cave, and the three day option is also recommended. Said Pham Ha, founder and CEO of Luxury Travel Ltd.

Dear Ms. Duong

We really enjoyed our trip. Our guide was very knowledgeable and our driver safely navigated the roads in his modern SUV. The Sun Spa Resort was a relaxing place to stay the night - we enjoyed being by the beach and the opportunity to use the massage service there. The caves themselves were awesome, especially Paradise Cave. Unfortunately, since there was a recent lightning storm, we were unable to see the dry part of the first cave. The kayak trip was also fun, but it was not as well organized as the other parts of the trip, so perhaps a different activity could be substituted in the future. For example, we enjoyed our stop at the DMZ and just driving through the countryside in general, so perhaps other nearby historical or cultural sites could also be substituted.

Thank you for your assistance with this trip,

Rachel

The trip was fantastic and pretty much just what we were looking for in terms of the sights we saw, the personalization with the guide, the accommodations, and all at a very reasonable price.  Our driver, although harrowing at times, got us to our destination and back safely and was friendly and professional as well as flexible with our schedule, and our guide was great and full of information and answers to our wide-ranging questions

Matthew
